As the title suggests, this book explores ”old school”, in particular, the comparison between the ”good old days” and today’s technology-fueled world. The book explores the ups and downs of technology and how today’s society would function without it.
The kid’s mother starts a petition in the town to go a few days without any technology. To the kid’s shock and horror the petition passes. The townspeople pass the time by cleaning up the area whilst the kid’s attempt to make money is foiled by an even younger child.
With numerous sub-plots dotted throughout the story, the climax is reached when the kid is sent away to camp. A sign reading ”Beware of Silas Scratch” sends everyone into panic as they spend the trip paranoid of being abducted/murdered.
I won’t spoil the ending fro you. Needless to say, I was guessing right till the end and wasn’t at all disappointed by the twist ending. If you’ve read the other books I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one.
